Modern board games are a world apart from what many people grew up with. They’re designed with fresh themes, clever mechanics, and a focus on fun interaction between players. Rather than rolling dice and moving pieces around a track, you might be building cities, running train networks, farming in medieval Europe, exploring galaxies, or uncovering mysteries. Popular examples include Catan, Ticket to Ride, Carcassonne, Wingspan, Azul, and Scythe.
If you’re new to this kind of gaming, don’t worry — you don’t need to arrive knowing the rules. We always explain games at the table, and there’s a huge amount of great content online if you’d like to get a feel for what’s out there.
